| Albert Guenzburger est né le 12 janvier 1935, il est décédé le 1 décembre 2005 au Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Albany après une brève lutte contre le cancer. Il était Juif (d’origine Allemande), diplômé de l’université de Cromwell. Il a notamment servis au Vietnam dans le 1st Battalion, 77th Field Artillery. Il faisait partie de la 1st Cavalery Division. Ce battaillon était au Vietnam deu 13 septembre 1965 à avril 1971. Il occupait le poste d’observateur d’artillerie à bord d’un hélicoptère OH-13 Bell de 1966 à 1967. Il a reçu la Purple Heart, la Légion du Mérite, la Bronze Star, l’Air medal et la Distinguished Flying Cross. Voici son avis de décès (publié par The Daily Star, New York) : Albert Guenzburger GUILFORD — Albert Guenzburger, 70, of Guilford passed away Thursday, Dec. 1, 2005, at the Veteran’s Administration Hospital in Albany after a brief battle with cancer. Born Jan. 12, 1935, in Freiburg, Germany, Albert was the son of Louis and Bertha (Forsch) Guenzburger. His family moved to New York City in 1938 and to Guilford in 1948. Albert graduated from Guilford Central School in 1952. He attended Cornell University before receiving his bachelor’s degree from the University of Omaha in 1968 and his master’s degree from the University of Arizona in 1973. Albert entered the United States Army in 1957, retired as a Lt. Colonel in 1991 and returned to Guilford. He served as an air defense artillery officer during the Vietnam War and was awarded the Legion of Merit, the Distinguished Flying Cross, a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. After his service to his country, Albert was a town justice in Guilford and a tax consultant with the Area Agency on Aging. He was a member of the Disabled American Veterans, where he was a volunteer driver for four years. Albert also enjoyed working with electronics and stamp collecting. He is survived by his brother, Peter Guenzburger of Guilford and his aunt, Erna Forsch of New York City. Funeral services for Albert will be held at 10:30 a.m. Sunday, Dec. 4, 2005, from the Jewish Center of Norwich. Burial will follow in Mt. Hope Cemetery.
